Roundup: MVL girls soccer teams start strong

DRESDEN — Ally Barclay kicked a pair of goals to lead host Tri-Valley to a 3-0 win against Sheridan in a Muskingum Valley League-Big School Division game on Monday at Kenny Wolford Park.

Navaeh Peffers added a goal and Emma Pratt an assist for the Scotties, who evened their record at 1-1. Alison Yingling collected five saves.

Kendall Harter's 15 saves led Sheridan.

West Muskingum 4, Coshocton 1: Zoie Settles and Jayden Thornton scored back-to-back goals to break up a 1-all tie for the Tornadoes, who rolled to an MVL-Small School Division win in the season opener at Stewart Field.

Katlynn Foster and Claire Smith also scored for West.

Isabelle Lauvray scored off a Cammy Wilson assist in the first half to tie it at 1 for the Lady 'Skins. Destiny Frye had eight stops in the loss.

Philo 3, Morgan 1: Sophia Saunders, Sara Searls and Nattalee Jarrett had goals for the Electrics, who won on the road in an MVL crossover.

Marley Harper collected eight saves for the winners.

Reese Azbell scored the lone goal for the Raiders.

Maysville 2, New Lexington 0: Maysville scored twice to upend their Panther counterparts in an MVL crossover win at the Maysville Athletic Complex.

Rosecrans 5, Baltimore Liberty Union 0: Sydnee Maxwell booted three goals to lead the host Bishops in a nonleague shutout.

Caitlyn Wilson and Chloe Zemba also scored for Rosecrans, while Zemba, Avery Maxwell and Lillie Dosch had assists. Kate Ward had three saves for the shutout.

Rosecrans 3, Baltimore Liberty Union 1: Evan Tolliver, Grady Labishak and Garrett Pugh scored goals for the Bishops in a nonleague road win.

Connor Olney added an assist for Rosecrans. Steven Porter collected six saves.

Maysville 6, Zanesville 0: The Panthers finished off a suspended game from Saturday, topping the Blue Devils at the MAC.

No other information was available.

Sheridan 164, Meadowbrook 177, Philo 188: Reed Coconis and Adam Saffell had matching 40s to lead the Generals in a Muskingum Valley League trimatch at Coyote Run.

Blake Turnes and Cael Dowdell posted 42 and Cooper Winders added 45 for Sheridan (11-2 MVL).

Ben Coss posted 41 and Damon Baier 43 for the Colts; Owen Dennis shot 46 and Stew Grafton 47.

A.J. Harper's 42 led Philo, while Addison Mershon and A.J. Layton had 45 and Blake Hiles 56.

Beverly Fort Frye 166, Rosecrans 188, New Lexington 197: Chatum Courson was medalist for the Cadets in a trimatch on the back nine at Jaycees.

Charlie Peterson shot 42 to pace the Bishops; Brody Agriesti's 47 paced New Lex.

Licking Valley 210, Sheridan 213, Tri-Valley 221: Makayla Hutchison earned medalist honors for Tri-Valley with 42 in a trimatch on the front nine at The Virtues.

Morgan Wamer shot 45 for Sheridan, while Ryan Satterfield had 52, Haven Jenkins 57 and Adi Calendine 59.

Kate Burkhart had 57, Delaney Bell 58 and Ali Wood 64 for Tri-Valley.

Nataley Banks' 48 paced Licking Valley.

Maysville 25, 25, Crooksville 17, 13: The Panthers picked up a win over the Ceramics on Saturday. Taisia Riggs had six assists and six digs and Khirra Wilson three kills for Crooksville (1-1).

Crooksville 25, 21, 25, Rosecrans 17, 25, 23: Brynn Lundell had seven kills and Khirra Wilson five as the Ceramics won a nonleague match at The Kiln.

Lundell and Wilson combined for almost half of the team's output. Ellie Ferguson added four kills, Tasia Riggs three assists and four assists and Mylee Moorehead three aces and four digs.

Morgan 25, 25, 25, Miller 15, 17, 16: The Raiders rolled to a nonleague win on the road.

Sheridan 7th and 8th grade volleyball had a great season opener on Monday against Crooksville. Both teams won in two sets with 8th grade scores of 25-11 and 25-18, and 7th grade scores of 25-7 and 25-10. Sheridan hosts Tri-Valley at 5:30 p.m. Thursday.
