Plans have been submitted to build a new 5G mast on a major road in a West Berkshire town. If approved, the plans would see a 20m monopole tower erected at a busy junction in Newbury.
Hutchinson UK, widely known as Three, hopes to install the tower at the Junction of Shaw Road and Kiln Road. Plans show that the tower would "support antenna, associated radio-equipment housing and ancillary development hitherto".
Street lights and telegraph poles are generally between five and ten metres tall. A 56 application was submitted to the council on Friday, July 8. People living in the area are invited to comment on the application.

In a planning statement, developers said: "5G uses a specific frequency of radio waves, just like 4G and before that 3G. The exposure to these radio waves is very low and crucially, many times lower than public safety guidelines dictate".
A public consultation on the plans is currently underway - with people invited to have their say on the scheme. West Berkshire Council will make a decision on the scheme in the coming weeks.
