CLARKSVILLE, TN (CLARKSVILLE NOW) – The Tennessee Department of Agriculture has issued a burn ban for three counties, including Montgomery County, effective Thursday.
TDA announced the ban via their Facebook and Twitter accounts, saying the decision was made out of “an abundance of caution and in support and mutual cooperation at the request of the county mayors.”
Burn bans were also issued for Cheatham and Sumner counties. 🔥 Burn Ban Update – June 30 🔥 Commissioner of Agriculture Burn Bans have been issued until further notice for Cheatham, Montgomery, and Sumner Counties as of June 30, 2022 in an abundance of caution and in support and mutual cooperation at the request of the county mayors. pic.twitter.com/Wa1Q02ptPH — TN Dept. of Ag (@TNAgriculture) June 30, 2022

The burn ban does not apply to the sale or use of fireworks, according to the post.
The ban does apply to other forms of open-air burning, including the burning of debris, campfires and certain outdoor grills. Charcoal and wood burning grills are prohibited, but propane and natural gas are still OK to use.
Also, the ban applies only outside the city limits. Clarksville is an exempt jurisdiction and makes its on rules on burn bans, according to Assistant Fire Chief Michael Rios.
An end date for the burn ban has not been given at this time, though it can be expected to persist through Montgomery County’s ongoing dry spell.
There is a chance for rain this weekend on both Saturday and Sunday. The rest of the forecast can be found in Clarksville Now’s Weekend Weather.
